The season of colours is here!

 Travelling to Lofoten in the fall can be a bit of a gamble with the everchanging weather. But it can also be the most magical time of the year! Now when the nights are growing longer the possibility to see the northern lights is growing bigger every day. Since the sun doesn't rise very high above the horrizon in late fall the south part of Lofoten is definitely the place to be, here you can watch the sunrise and enjoy the sun for most of the time it spends above the horizon to later set behind the mountains in an explosion of colours! Another thing we love about the fall is when the mountains change their colours to different shades of red, orange,yellow and green, this in combination with the dramatic weather can make some spactacular memories and pictures.

 

 With the changeing weather comes the rainbows, and who doesn't like a good rainbow?! 

 When the weather is a bit unpredictable we think it is important to have a warm place to relax if you get some rain and wind during your stay, but still be able to enjoy the view over the fjord. This is one reason why we choose to have big windows facing the fjord in most of our cabins and apartments. In the livingroom you can sit down with a hot cup of tea and a good book and still enjoy the view of the fjord and see how it's changeing with the elements of nature. 

 The autumn can also be a very good time for hiking! You need to be aware of the fact that the weather can change very quickly and bring the correct gear. If you keep this in mind you will definitly have some amazing hikes around the islands. There are ofcourse days with no wind and sunshine also in fhe fall, in Septembet, October it can almost feel like summer! These days are perfect for hiking and other outdoor activities like kayaking and fishing.
